I am writing to you in response to your letter of the 12 August. I was touched to receive your invitation to join the hallowed Christmas Curry Club. I would like to confirm that I would be honoured to accept your invitation - so I therefore accept and will be pleased to join you and the other members of the Christmas Curry Club on your next meeting on the 9th December 2004. I hope to be able to maintain the high standards of curry gobbling and reckless drinking established by the late Mr Blake.

Dear Mr. Vigs
With reference to the Christmas Curry Club and the untimely demise of Mr. Blakey (R.I.P.), an extraordinary General Meeting took place at the Horse & Groom Public House on Wednesday 4th August, 2004. The Curry Club’s Constitution states that on the death of a Member a replacement will be sought.
At the above said meeting, after vigorous debating and lobbying your name was proposed and seconded for this prestigious position. (After all, you celebrate Christmas and like a curry).
It therefore gives me great pleasure as Chairman, to cordially invite you to join the Christmas Curry Club.
Before responding to this invitation, please note that Membership should not be taken lightly and is a lifetime commitment.
I would ask that you formally reply in writing to this invitation directly to myself at my home address within 7 days from the date of this invitation.
For your information, the date for this year’s event will be Thursday 9 December 2004 (the only date that Mr Blake did not have a meeting at Solihull).
